Matthew Harkins

Matthew has spent the beginning of his life striving to excel at sports and athletic endeavors. This path led him to numerous injuries and shortcomings. Feeling constant pain and frequent anxiety became the norm. The road to a healthy, strong body & mind has been long.

Matthew’s dad was killed from heart disease. It was not until his early 20s that he found out the impact that his fathers death had on him…

Following his dads death until halfway through college, he spent his time trying to become excellent at sports. Filling voids and trying to chase an image of success. This came with side effects of joint pain, anxiety, substance abuse, and an overall disorganized life.

It wasn’t until he took his foot off the gas, breathed some fresh ocean air, and sat with himself, that things started to open up. It granted him the space to feel what his body really needed, which lead him to learning many different movement modalities. Yoga, corrective exercises, postural restoration, natural movement, functional strength training, and embodiment practices. His immersion into the natural world paired with mindful movement sent him deep within and healed many layers of pain. Ultimately, it brought him to a place of visiting his own death. His father’s demise has provided a deeper appreciation for life.

Your body is a sensory guide for opening up the layers of past experiences. The practice of mindful movement has the ability to promote positive change on a deeper level. At the same time, lengthening and strengthening new pathways for emerging ways of being and thinking. When you become aware of how your body moves in time and space, you’ll be confronted with your past; which is where tension and stiffness reside in the body. From there, it is your choice to continue in the same routine, programming, and ways of being from before; or to make the moves to open up and evolve. Mindful movement is the art of progression and personal development.

“My hope is to make the process more clear and accessible for others.”
